  • Fall Barbecue and Social – Our yearly fall social and introduction of the the upcoming year's programs will again be under the redwood trees at Stow Grove County Park in Goleta. Date is already set for September 7 at 1:00 pm.
  • Seminar on The Initiative Process Wed., Sept. 10, 17, 24 - Time and Venue TBA
    Ted Anagnoson will help us understand the California Initiative Process and look at one or more of the many initiatives that will be on the November 4 ballot.
  • The Middle Ages Mon., Sept. 15, 22, 29, Oct. 6, 13, 20 - 1:30 - 4:30 pm Valle Verde Theatre
    Mike Cribbs along with George Frakes, Don O'Dowd, Peter Kruse, Howard Clarke and others will look at history, climate, religion and everyday life in Europe between 500 and 1500.
  • Globalization and Offshoring, Bob Macy. Tues., Dec. 2, 9, 16 - 9:30 - 12:30 - Venue TBA

  • Women in Art and their Heroic Struggle to Succeed, to be presented by Wayne Hoffman in Winter/Spring 2009.
  • From the 16th century to today, the story of women who defied society and convention to become artists. A story complete with murder, violence, revolution, official prejudice, and public indifference. But a story of success! Three sessions, dates, time and venue TBA
  • Myth, History, and Poetry in Homer's Iliad - Howard Clarke will present three three-hour sessions one on historical context and background, a second on the poem itself, and a third on its meaning and influence. In Winter 2009. Dates, time and venue TBA
  • Documentary Films - Jorgia Bordofsky and Diane Wolf are organizing a seminar to be presented after the Santa Barbara Film Festival in the spring of 2009. Three sessions, dates, times and venue TBA
  • Persian Gulf History and Economic Developmnt - Jayme deBarros will include a short history of the Persian Gulf region from about 1800 and why it was important at that time to European powers; especially England. The development of the area before oil and after with an emphasis on Dubai, and maybe Abu Dhabi, specifically and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) generally. Three session in winter/spring 2009, dates, time and venue TBA
